One of our more popular items on the menu is the Po’ Boy Sandwich. Our Po’ Boy is your choice of fried shrimp or fried oysters on a toasted roll with house made remoulade, lettuce and tomato. This is a delicious sandwich and well worth trying.
So how did this delicious sandwich get its name? The facts are not 100% concrete but there are some theories. As you may have guessed, the word Po’ is actually short for “poor”. The most accepted theory for the name is from a 1929 worker’s strike against the New Orleans street car company. Two brothers that used to work for the street car company named, Benny and Clovis Martin, ran a restaurant in the area.
